About 250 rounds in, the hammer has stopped locking back during firing approximately 50% of the time on my Dan Wesson CBOB; It is always cycling a new round, just not recocking the hammer. Is this a hammer/sear problem? It locks back with manually operating the slide, just not always during firing. Anything I can do on my end or anything to check? I've had it field stripped to clean the barrel etc, but not taken it down to the trigger parts yet...

Thanks

Does it fire a second round when the hammer follows the slide??

it could be a couple of things: a dirty sear, a broken disconnector bar, a blocked trigger or a weak grip( gun recoils into your hand, and a weak grip allows the trigger to reset because the trigger is not kept fully depressed, then is tripped again on return to battery the hammer follows the slide forward)

you can check the operation by cycling the action with your finger depressing the trigger, without the mag in place and a verified empty chamber. then dry fire and repeat. if the hammer follows the slide home its most likely mechanical, If the hammer stays cocked it could be your grip but you will still need to have the gun checked by a qualified smith.or sent for warantee work

Assuming you (or some 'smith) didn't thinker with it trying to "improve" the trigger... I'd say take it down and check that the sear-spring is still in place.

Personnally, I like the Clark 4 fingers...

Alrighty. I pulled and held the trigger (dropping the hammer) than manually cycled the slide. The hammer followed the slide foward and didnt stay cocked...

It was new, as far as I know no one has tinkered with it. I will disassemble it and see if I can see something wrong (will be the first time I've had it taken down that far so that should be interesting)

If you have only put about 250 rounds through it I will take a guess that it is still under warranty.

I would get it repaired under warranty or have a competent gunsmith look at it. If it should ever go full auto on you , it will not stop until it is empty & that can be dangerous . Believe me. My opinion for what it is worth.

oh and no, it never fired a second round when the hammer followed the slide. That would have been bad.

if the hammer was not locking back and it never fired a second round when you cycled the slide, how did you shoot it? did you pull the hammer back then release the hammer to fire??
I think you may contact the seller for an exchange.

Yes, I would take my finger off the trigger and thumb the hammer back to re-#### it.
