I Googled this topic and ill admit wow there's an endless array so I need some help. Since we can't carry concealed and 99% of the time I go to the range to shoot I will not need a holster but if I were to try some of the pistol games what should I be lookin for? I want something that won't destroy the finish on my 1911 yet will be acceptable for various pistol games. I'm not looking to compete in anything so it may get used only once or twice a year. Any one suggest a brand or style to narrow my search?

Take look at the DAA PDR and PDR Pro 2 holster we sell. They are great for competition and also hold the pistol securely. Any holster is going to wear the finish on your gun in some points after repeated use. It is pretty much unavoidable but you can take a few steps to reduce it by ensuring the holster fits properly, any burs are removed etc.

we're working on a suede-lined option for our Competition holsters to lessen holster wear if your interested?, but as stated holster wear is inevitable however can be slowed..

Well he could always use a trigger guard retention only holster (ie ghost)
Used it for many years, just switched to bladetech, for a quicker draw technique, but the ghost would make zero wear on gun, just a bit on trigger guard

Edit : just read various pistol games, ghost is IPSC only for what i know, never tried the other games
