I have been looking at my Norinco 1911 a lot since I got it. The blue is not too too bad, but not pretty either, the typical Norinco finish i guess. I would like to get a professional High polish blue done to it, but thats $250+ I do not have to spare right now. I also like to tinker, and with winter only a snowfall way I will be spending a lot more time indoors. So, I figure I would try to re-blue my Norinco. What steps do i have to take to re-blue it? For the slide, should I remove the rear site? Can someone direct me to a good guide on disassemble (I am going to look on youtube as well) How should I prep the metal? How would I get a "mirror" finish, or one close to it? Are their any special tools I will need?
I know the cold blues don't hold up as well to wear as hot blues, but this is more for an educational experience, and as I said, I like to tinker.
Thanks.
