1911 in 9

So i'm looking for a 1911 in 9, and i'm getting down to either a Trojan or one of the S&W pro series. The kimbers in 9 are too bare bones for me and i hate plastic mainspring housings. Has anyone any input, or has anyone shot either/or both of them? Let me know.
 
The Kimber Custom Target II Stainless is a fully dressed out 9mm 1911. It has everything you want for around C$1295. Except no ambit-safties. Can't find the Customs Target II in carbon steel. The STI Trojan can has everything the Kimber has for around C$1112.00 in carbon steel. Add $45.00 for ambi's. I'm leaning towards the Trojan....

.45 really is the coolest handgun calibre. Mind you I shoot 9mm more than anything. Its still jokes to make fun of it.
 
I have read your post and I think you should have another look at the Kimber Custom Target II Stainless. Roger at shooters choice alberta sells them for $1295.00 taxes included. I have tried many different 9mm 1911's and this is the one I finally settled on. Mine works great and is very accurate.

have half a dozen wilson combat mag's in 9 that i used to trial the concept in an NP29; nice trial unit, but without the bull barrel you give up a lot of the advantage of 9mm in a 1911. I liked the feel and shootability, should be a lot of fun for IPSC outing's and IDPA. But rather then sink money into the norc, i'll just purchase the one i want.

I'm not against the kimber, but i do prefer ambi saftey's. I can install one, but i can purchase it on the smith or the STI. It's really down to the Trojan in blue, or the smith in stainless....I have a springfield, but i've not been totally impressed with it, broken parts......
 
I got myself a Custom II in 9mm and and pretty happy with it, shoots well and F&F are awesome FWIW. I agree with the MSH issue and replaced mine right away. I'm sure the stock one would have been fine though.

I've shot the Trojan and they are pretty sick too. If i wasn't set on Stainless I would have ended up with one probably.
 
well, it was originally designed around 38 acp, which is closer to 9 then 45, but whatever...it runs fine in anything if it's built correctly for the caliber. I've got 6-8 other nines as well, but i wanted to find a 1911 in 9. Nice soft shooter to bring new folks to the range with. And even reloading i can run it for less then half the cost of 45. Yeah the plastic housings work just fine, but i'd change it out too. but for the cost of the housing and the ambi saftey, i could get something with it on from the factory. more food for thought
