I previously asked for opinion the M&P 9mm and thanks to a very kind offer by Outdoors905, met up for a try out today. I can't say I loved it... However, I also got to try a Sig 1911 Tacops in .45 flavour. Wow - that was quite something and could easily cause me to double (triple?) my budget!
Looking at running costs though and cheaper ammo, is there something like that i.e. 1911 with the tactical feel (or traditional I guess) but in 9mm Luger that could be an idea? I see Sig have a range of 1911s that include 9mm, which could be an ideal choice but not sure about availability. Thanks.

Bias warning, I'm friends with the importer/distributor...

However, try to wrap your mitts around one of the new Canuck 1911's in 9mm. It has a hell of a lot going for it at a very good price.

My go to pistol is an STI Trojan in 9mm.

15k rounds and going strong.

I'm not convinced their new production is as good as it was a few years back though.

My .45 Sig 1911 commander was pretty nice. But it's not cheap. SAM makes some decent 1911s for half the price! Can't beat them for the money. One I had in 9mm stainless (also commander size) was super tight and looked gorgeous. I'm not a 1911 fan so they just don't last in my safe but I half miss it.

Sti fanboy here too....but my Sam 1911 enhanced is quite the shooter...would recommend it to anyone....for a budget 9...

I can also vouch for the new colt competition in 9mm. Amazing trigger and built well. Love the sights (traded to the bright fiber optic green, which was supplied). I had to get used to the recoil impulse at first, cause it has a double recoil spring, but now that i'm used to it, it seems to shoot bulls eyes on it's own

Ruger now offers their SR1911 as a 9mm Commander model, with a blackened aluminum frame and matte stainless slide.
It has the same skeleton hammer, 3-dot Novak sights, extended grip safety with a palm bump, extended manual safety, and heavy combat springs.
This one has Pachmayr-style rubberized grips and flashy V-shaped slide grooves.

I owned a standard SR1911 and found it very reliable, accurate, and well-made.
I am sure that this one would be a winner too.
