hi all, bought some mags from a fellow CGN'er, the function perfectly except that the slide doesn't stay open after the last rounds fired, the only difference i see between the ones i bought & originals are the followers. Original are flat top & new ones are round tops, could this be the issue? if so, where to buy flat tops to switch out?

The front left part of the follower is supposed to push up on the slide stop
when the mag is empty.
It could be that your slide stop does not like those mags.
Can you try the ones that don't work in your 1911 in another pistol.
Some mags are flat on top, some are round, some are part way but they should
work if everything lines up properly and the springs inside the mags
have the proper tension.

Hello,

Visually inspect to be sure the follower is contacting the slide stop. Do this by inserting the empty magazine and pulling the slide rearward while watching through the ejection port.

Make and model of magazine would help. Metalform generally uses the domed followers but I do not want to assume.

Additionally, eight round magazines sometimes lack the extra power needed to reliably operate the slide stop. They generally use thinner wire (weaker) springs to allow that eighth round to fit.

Regards,

Josh
