1911 mags in 9mm

On the basis of the ongoing test at pistol-training.com, I would say there is only one serious choice: Wilson ETMs.

tripp research all the way for 10 rounds, mine are flawless and i love the metal follower.
for 9 rounds, use whatever they are all equal

Wilson also makes 10 rounders.
TC mags have generated too many failures on Todd's gun and he has stopped using them so the test results are not skewed by mag-induced failures.

I have a couple Tripp mags too and they're great. As weird as it may sound, I actually grin a little every time I use them because they're such awesome quality magazines.

i think something is up with todds guns, my $700 spartan is more reliable than his, and i never clean the thing
How long ago did your spartan exceed 20,000 rounds?

it hasnt, but im getting close to half way there and all my stoppages can be attributed to me learning how to reload (ie: cases not having enough bell and therefore causing them to jam in the chamber) which doesnt really count against the gun. Since I spent a day working out exactly what was wrong with my reloads, no problems

EXACTLY no idea, I didnt count the ones i could 100% call ammo failures (as he doesnt, like the one the gun has with the commercial reloaded ammo early on) there is only one failure that i have no idea about if it was ammo or not because it was at a match and i obviously cleared it and kept going, so call that one failure
The reason I ask is that you have a gun with a much lower round count, with way more stoppages - you have no idea how many.
The possibilities are:
1) STI somehow managed to build a gun that is more reliable than anything Jason Burton can build
2) You do not log your rounds, and consequently have an unknown number of stoppages, all but one of which you attribute to your own personal mistakes, out of an unknown total, and STI does NOT build the most reliable 9mm 1911 that has ever existed.
The possibilities are:

Buy don't build.
By the time you obtain a decent 1911 frame and slide and pay for all the custom work, it is just not worth it in my opinion. Instead, just buy the STI TargetMaster in 9mm. It is the best deal going for factory dedicated 9mm PPC guns.

i log my rounds every time i shoot, down to the round. when there was a stoppage (i say was because im at 5000 trouble free) then it was looked at and oddly enough i can look at a case that jammed up the gun and see the large bulge in the bottom to easily say that that is an ammo problem and not a gun problem.Rob and Tim were both at the practice sessions where my reloads sucked and saw the stoppages caused by terrible ammo, and they can both attest to me having no issues since i sat down and fixed the reloads since they are there for 90% of my shooting. Actually i still have a box of those crap rounds kicking around somewhere...
anyways, im done. Todds guns are clearly the end and and be all of 1911s and nothing could possibly be wrong with them and because i do not have a giant blog or teach courses my guns experience is worth nothing even though shooter experience has nothing to do with how many times a gun or mag malfunctions outside of limp wristing it.
It's too bad you're done, because I was still wondering what the exact number of rounds and stoppages you had was...which no doubt your log would tell us.
I can attest to his guns performance and the issues with his reloads at the start. It was based on his experiences and my observations of his gun and mags that I emailed Todd about the TC mags being the goto mags. I was shocked when Todd directed me to the first post about his 9mm 1911 and how the TC mags were among the first deadlined. Brennan's Spartan has performed flawlessly since he sorted out his reloads, which if I remember correctly would be about 4000 rounds total now. And he is no better than me or Todd at cleaning his guns.
