I'm thinking about getting a few extra mags for my .45 STI Trojan. Brownells have their house brand on for about $24 Canadian and either Wilson Combat or Chip McCormack for around $32-33 Canadian. That seems quite a bit less than the STI mags here for $52 each. Anyone have any experience with the Brownell mags? They seem to get good reviews on the site.

I've never used the Brownells mags but if you want cheap 1911 mags, you can pickup some of the ACT mags from Wolverine or DLask for around $25.CDN. I've got 3 of them and they haven't failed me yet.

The other question is would i be better off buying the Wilson Combat or the McCormack's for only 7-8 dollars more? They're supposed to be high quality aren't they?

Maybe the Wilson Combat or the McCormack's are just re-branded magazines from an existing magazine producer (like ACT, Elander etc) Might be worth looking into as you you may be just paying extra for the name on them.

My SAM doesn't seem to like the E-lander mag I bought, works well with the ACT mag it came with and also a Sig mag I purchased.

I was looking at the Wilson 47D's on at Brownell's as well. $26.99 U.S. Will they ship to Canada if it is under $100?

The Chip McCormack magazines are for sure not just "names". They are different beasts. I love them.
The WC magazines sure seem like their own magazines too. They are pretty good but I got one with a bad follower.

Yep....the Brownells site has a filter that will show what is available for export. I believe Canada is actually $500 now not $100 like the rest of the world.

The Brownell's mags are rebranded Metalform, good mags, the 8 rounders are the same mags rebranded as STI.....look at the followers if you want to compare.
The 3 pack Brownell's mags are a pretty good deal, steel captive follower which is what you want in a 1911 mag.

I've got all sorts of mags and frankly the only ones that give me any problems at all are my STI and Remington ones, and I've got cheap blued steel no-names, and some of the $13 ones that Corwin was blowing out.

I bought some 8 round DLASK mags from CanAmmo to round up an order to $200 and they work well. I think they are rebranded ACT mags?

If you're a casual shooter I would not worry about Big Name mags. Maybe they might have a reliability edge for high volume shooters and competitors (I can't say), but for me if I'm spending more than $30 on a 1911 45ACP mag I'm not buying that mag.

Wilson Combat mags are worth every penny. ACT mags have also worked very well for me as have the 10 round Chip McCormick mags. The Brownells ones will probably be fine too.

I had problems with the last round lock back in other than the STI mags in my Trojan 9mm.. Chip McCormack in my STI Spartan 45 ACP are fine go figure.
