I've had nothing but good luck with the 8rnd Chip McCormick stainless shooting star mags, NOT the power mags(although the 10rnd Power mags seem to do good) in all the 1911s I've owned/shot.

Brownells brand are made by Metalform, they have decent prices on 3 packs.
I also seem to have good luck with the Elander and ACT mags which never let me down.

Thanks guys....lots of agreement here...in my search I found joe dlask mags under 30$...anybody ever run these? Look like good value....Wilson combats seem to be 52$ + the juice......

I don't know anyone in Canada that supplies them, but simply because my Nighthawk Custom shipped with them I've stuck with ACT's. I've never had a problem with them and have about 12. I just upgraded all the springs with heavier ones from Wolff. If you but a Wolff mag, that's what you are getting an ACT with their springs. If you shop in the US, Greg Cote is a great supplier to deal with.

Dlask mags are the ACT mags (made in Italy) I mentioned above. He just sticks his name on it....
Wolverine has the elanders (made in Israel) for the same price.

Great. Mine survived years of competition and were still going strong. I upgraded the springs because one of my guns wasn't locking back on last round. Now they are all perfect again. For what it's worth, when I got my NHC, several high end builders were shipping ACT with their $3k+ guns.

Great....always good to have all the info...I prefer stainless.....how do the blued stand up to ipsc use...

I have a new Dlask Pro Plus .45ACP (600 rounds down the pipe) and I cannot get it to shoot with his mags. The gun will shoot lead round nose and jacketed round nose 230 grain with a Sig mag and a little less well with a Kimber mag but 4 out of 5 will not chamber with his mags in his gun. Go figure. The Sig and Kimber mags have a different angle for the rounds and the Sig mag has a little tit on the plate to push the round a little higher.

I've had both blued and parkerized and they hold up fine for my purposes. I used them in IPSC on a concrete floor and only one base cracked in five years. I make felt pads for mine but rarely shoot indoors now. To me, the finish on mags doesn't matter much. Rust might be a problem for some but not me. The blued ones are scratched but that doesn't bother me. I think the stainless are just a dollar or two more.
