Hello
I picked up a Springfield RO and it was set up with a mag well adapter/mag funneling device and I’d don’t like it.. lol

problem is, once it’s removed, the mainspring housing is to long.

Is this just a drop in piece? Where could I find one?View attachment 654216

Thanks

I wouldn't be surprised if Brownells couldn't help you out. I'm assuming you want a stainless unit.
You could cut yours down, but I expect you could sell your housing and well for a lot more than the cost of a replacement.

Yes sir, looking for a SS one.
I seen a few on Dlask web site as well.

Maybe I can offer it up for trade as well.
I want to get rid of the mag base plates as well .

Absolutely a standard replacement part. Arched or flat, stainless or blued. Not particularly expensive.

Practical Performance Parts

Probably a dozen others that could help you.

It's a pretty standard part, but as above you will have a few options to decide on (if they matter to you). Some people with bigger hands prefer the feel of an arched MSH. And aside from shape and colour / finish, you can get your MSH made from steel, aluminum, or plastic. They all tend to work just fine mechanically. Plastic is quite a bit lighter and will change the balance if care about that sort of thing.

If you're particular about the appearance you might have a hard time finding a stainless finish to match the frame. But I don't think that extended mag well / MSH was OE anyway, so maybe it won't matter to you.

Ed Brown is a good choice, should be a drop in fit to your frame.

If it wasn't obvious already, you'll have to transfer the guts from your current MSH. Is the one you have a common brand name? I wouldn't put it past a boutique parts manufacturer to use proprietary (uncommon) bits.

Yep. That one is unusual. Typically, mainspring housings with removable magwell funnels are made in such a way that when the funnel is removed the housing looks and acts as a standard unit. That nub sticking out takes away the convertability of the MSH since it's always going to get in the way either when you are shooting or (especially) changing mags. I wouldn't want to be slapping a mag in with that thing sticking out to skewer my palm. Either machine off the nub or sell the MSH to someone who wants a MSH with a magwell funnel (I'm sure someone does).

It's probably fine. But if you're worried about it then I'd order replacement internal parts at the same time - They're usually pretty cheap, and it's always nice to have spares anyhow.

You could just cut it off and smooth out, If I still had a standard one, I would just trade you, but none left.
Sould not be hard to find, post a WTB or WTT in the EE and see what happens.

What you have is a Dawson Precision Ipsc legal magwell, yes the mainspring housing and funnel are a package. Should be pretty easy to find a regular main spring housing to replace it with. Please don’t chop it up I’d be glad to purchase it from you if you to get rid of it.

I’m not going to chop it up, was thinking of trading it for a SS standard one.
Also have a several of those mag base plates to through in.

If I don’t make a trade by tomorrow, I’ll more than like sell it .

Awesome, this forum is great! Those MSH guts will transfer straight across into a new MSH, correct?
