Latey I have developed a huge among of interest in 1911 design and spent quite a bit of time to read different topic about 1911 mods. I did found there are quite a few people start get their feet wet by stepping into the pool. For those who have did a mod to your 1911, namely Norinco, please post what you have replaced, what parts supplier and part number etc that you have done to your pistol. It might help if you 1911 expert jump in and build up a resource for people who start interest to this platform.

Thanks in advance.

I've converted two of the NP29s to match guns (for ISSF), one was the recipient of an old "Gil Hebard 38 Special match barrel", a set of new american made internals, and a 30 year old Bowmar Rib. Looks and shoots like a Clark "short-heavy 38". The other likewise received american internals, a Novak front and Bowmar rear sight set, and two extra barrels .30Luger in 6inch, and a 38Super also in 6 inch. The original 9mm barrel was welded up and fitted properly and has a match bushing installed. And yeah, they both wear anatomical target grips.

extra work I done with Nork originals:
-polished sear for a 4.4 lbs crisp trigger
-polished hammer
-polished bbl and chamber
-polished feed ramp
-polished firepin retainer plate

What did you use to polish? Super fine steel wool? Or did you use compound and a cloth?

My Combat Commander

Here's my somewhat modified and well used Combat Commander. I've had it for going on 20 years but recently gave her a tune-up with some new parts. I used it for IPSC back when single stacks ruled, and I plan on using her again if we can get this classic single stack division off the ground.

* Ed Brown beavertail
* High cut and checkered front strap
* New STI ambi safety
* New LPA (bomar style) rear sight
* New Dawson front sight
* Wilson full length guide rod
* S&A welded on mag well (the grip has been cut 1/4" to preserve the orignial length)
* Trigger breaks at just over 3# like a glass rod with just a little take-up
* Converted to a series 70 by removal of the series 80 parts
* Grips are Hogue Kingwood

It could probably use refinishing one of these days but I think she wears her age well.
