I know there's likely been tons of threads on this - and I've searched through a few, but does anybody know quickly if any dealers in Canada carry the Smith and Alexander MSH with attached magwells? Would rather order from someone here than the US.

Also - anybody have experience with these, or would you recommend another brand (WC or NH?) Not a fan of the STI ones...

Most dealers and all gunsmiths order fairly regularly from Brownells. If you really want to buy Canadian, just get your favorite shop or smith to order one in for you. But you might want to try one of the bigger 1911 smiths like Armco, Dlask or Dark International and see if they might already have one in stock.

We really do need a good Canadian supplier of 1911 bits and parts though. I know I would be spending a lot more than I do now if it was quick and easy to get the goodies!

Have a look at the Ed Brown ones. They are well made and very nice, as is most of the stuff that Ed Brown puts out.

Thanks - I'll flip an email to Dlask (already sent one to Armco). Actually - I know Dlask makes their own MSH...I sent them a message not too long ago suggesting they should to the magwell bit too. Who knows?

I'll take a look at the Ed Brown stuff too - thanks again.

I've got the S&A on two Colt frames. Recommended, with only one small reservation- depending on hole location in and length of the frame, which seems to have varied at Colt, they can require a bit of filework to fit properly. Nothing retarded, but my Series 70 frame wouldn't let it drop in until I used a hammer on the crosspin. Tried the same funnel on two 1950s Colts I had at the time- no problem.

I doubt there'd be any such fit problem on modern Colts or clones made on modern tooling.

Perfomance-wise, I'm very happy with how it slickens my reloads. It's a great big funnel. Looks- and design-wise, I wouldn't use anything else. I think the Wilson mag well looks like bolt-on performance parts from Canadian Tire. (The guy had a mullet, f8cksakes.) I love Ed Brown's quality and use several of his parts, but have stayed away from the Maxi-Well because of the awkward overhang, and the two-piece design. I'm the guy that parts falling off happens to.

SVI have one, but it's expensive, and to my eye, deeply ugly.

Thanks Coach! Appreciate the insights.

I ordered a S&A one from Brownell's...almost bought the Ed Brown one (liked the look of the snakeskin version) but the S&A one definitely has a better look in my opinion. I wanted something that is going to blend in and actually look like it was meant to be there.

Thanks again.
