1911 Parts Kits

I'm looking at getting a Norc Commander and would like to know if anyone sells complete parts kits from companies like Colt or Wilson Combat. I would like to replace everything except the barrel, slide and frame. I know Gunner at Armco does great things with these but I'm the type that likes to learn by doing so any help/ advice on the best upgrades and where to get the parts would be appreciated.
