I have a norc 1911 that's stock and was thinking of doing a few upgrades. So my question to you is what brand of parts are you is in and where are you buying from? I'm also thinking of letting go of my 45 in favor of a 9mm is the norc 9mm version internals compatible with standard parts?

Wanstalls carries a bit of 1911 parts. For the hard to find stuff, it's Brownells for me. I usually stick to Ed Brown, Wilson Combat and Fusion parts. I've been turned off by STI parts after a bad experience with an ambi safety.

Following this I just bought a Norinco 1911 in 9mm and a Para Ordinance 1911 in .45 I am looking for fiber optic sites perhaps new grips? We will see when they get here. Ordered them both today!

Double tap has some stuff as well, I bought an egw bushing from them. Fusion firearms parts I got through practical performance and Wanstalls, grips you can find a lot of places, just google for those. Just ordered a wilson Combat group gripper guide rod system from Brownells.

For a Norc you should consider getting STI parts from Freedom Ventures.

Little bit off topic, does anyone know if there are any adjustable rear sights in Canada that fit Norcs without the need for milling work? And a source for replacement fiber optic rods to re do my front sight. The front got beat up on the mail on the way back from the 'smith.

Caramel, I like my Norc, just like it is, but I also want to try some different setups and part that may, or may not make it more accurate and/or comfortable to shoot, this way I can pick and choose which parts I want to try without buying the whole gun, also I will be able to tell whether each part made a difference or not! It's just personal choice plus the cost of buying a bunch of 1911's as new things come out is prohibitive to most of us! But I do love watching you buy some cool guns for sure and reporting back to us on how they work!

Me as well. Plus I've been making minimum wage 10.85/h part time the last 3 years so Norinco's and slowly upgrading to exactly what I want is more in my budget.
I bought a couple of Norinco 29s and shot the crap out of them. Had a lot of fun. One is now used with a Colt .22 conversion unit (works extremely well), the other with a MechTech Carbine Conversion unit. For competition, I now shoot a M&P Pro CORE with a Leupold optic.

While I had lots of 1911's from Norcs to SVI's, none ever came close to my Les Baer Prowler III.
Haven't shot the Les Baer in a year or so. Shot this target earlier today, 50 rounds of PMC 230gr FMJ at a measured 27 yards (25 meters) offhand:
