I love the way the 1911 fits my hand and the way it naturally points. The STI is also my IPSC club of choice.

Having just completed the SAFEGUARD SEMINARS INTERNATIONAL CCW course, I have to decide on a CCW gun.

A DA pistol would be the safest gun to carry at condition 1. I would not want to carry a SA pistol, day to day, in other than condition 3, but that's a whole lot of messing around under stress.

Is there a .45acp DA 1911 pattern gun out there? In an Officer's Size?

The only one would be the LDA line from Para Ordanance...

1911 Sfs

This is not a DA, but it is another option that may be interesting to you or others. It is exactly like the the Browning HP SFS (Safety Fast Shooting) but offered for the 1911. Basically load your pistol, push the hammer down with your thumb and the safety engages automatically ( the hammer stays down), flick off the safety to the firing position and the hammer cocks itself. The kit is offered/installed by Cylinder and Slide shop is the US
