I took my STI, Colt Gold Cup and M45A1 out to the range today. I shoot Classic Division with my STI and it has an excellent trigger in it but the other two are no slouches either.

The M45A1 has the worst trigger of the bunch, I think due to the Series 80 safety.

They all performed well, especially once I warmed up.

All in about 300 rounds down range today. Lots of fun!!!!

Good shooting. Always fun blasting away with 1911s. Nice collection BTW.

If your series 80 has a pretty bad trigger, might be time to do some parts polishing and possibly lighter safety plunger spring. My Sig 1911 series 80 has as smooth a trigger (out of the box) as my Springfield series 70 RO 1911.

All my series 80 1911's get the series 80 guts removed, there is a shim kit available to take the space where that crap used to live.
Then you can use series 70 parts and or simply take solace that the lawyer bits are sittin on the bottom of the lake instead of in the gun......literally in my case!

The M45 production model will shoot around 2.5 inch groups. The custom shop model (01070CQB) is assembled by gunsmiths who hand fit barrels for optimal lock up and tune the triggers to shoot more accurately. Here's a picture of the custom shop model:

Thanks for sharing. Took mine out recently for a range day and it's hard not to compare them (much like kids). I really want to say I love them all equally, but I really should have left that Chinese one at the orphanage. ;)
