1911 project or junk?

pretty messed up Remington-rand. now that I have it should I spend money and learn a little/lot or walk now cause its a waste case?

Looks complete to me accept for the pin that holds the barrel link to the barrel. Plus extra sets of parts and for some reason a 500mag with either a 600gr or 700gr bullet.

Play with it if you have the time, extra guide rod, bushing and recoil spring plug but no recoil spring. It isn't going to get worth any less if you try and it doesn't work out. Don't try to shoot that round from it. Haha

Can't tell if the trigger sear and disconnector is still inside. But yeah, if you got it for a low enough price then you've got the makings of either a cheap gun for minimal effort or a long term accuracy project.

If it were a wartime version I'd say there's some significant collector value as well. But given the extended slide release and safety levers as well as the sights I suspect you're looking at a post war "target" model". Even so I'd suggest it's worth while to check if it has some collector appeal before you do anything other than restore it to original form.

Order a spring kit from Brownells,get some grips and you should be good from what I see.

i got a few more parts for you Rick, commander style trigger, rubber grips, 22lb recoil spring, firing pin spring, and some stuff i dont know what it is. lol
ill give them to you when i see you next.

started shopping brownells for tools. any suggestions or must have 1911 tools a guy should get. I have a sear jig, a trigger pull gauge and some hard arkansas stones. been looking for some files haven't found yet locally.....small town blues.

For an action job you don't need files. That's much too coarse. The stones will do nicely. And if you DO need files then some from the regular local hardware store will do.
