1911 R1 stiff slide release

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to smoothen the stiff slide release on my brand new Remington 1911 R1 ?

I find it terribly stiff and quite hard to release with one thumb only. Maybe its because it new and there is no wear to it ?
I had an older Argentino Colt sytema 1927 in the past, and it was much smoother than that.

Remove the mag. Without the mag is how it will feel in use.
