i need to replace the recoil spring in my 6" 1911. is it just the standard size or do you have to get one for the 6" specifically? i see springs for sale but most of the time they don't even list what size gun its for.

It would help to state the pistol manufacture and chambering (45 ACP??). Have you checked on the manufactures website for recommendations?

its a custom Caspian .45acp 6" longslide with ramped storm lake barrel and two piece full length guide rod. the frame is the older safari arms finger groove style so i cant really get any info on it.

Take a look at the spring cap. If it is a long spring cap (2.5+") a regular 5" 1911 spring will be fine. If it is a short spring cap, you probably need a special 6" spring (pita) or just pick up an extended spring cap for $20 and use regular 1911 springs. Freedom Ventures sells these caps that are compatible with the guide rod
