Hi Guys,
I have a 1911 Girsan C 45ACP. My iron sights shoot awfully low. Looking at installing a UM TACTICAL UM3 UNIVERSAL SIGHT MOUNT or similar so I can install a red dot optics. Any idea we're I could purchase the mount.
Cheers Rob

I had the same problem with my Springfield Range Officer until I better tailored my reloads. As an alternative to a red dot (if your range will allow it) a decent quality laser might help although not as good as a red dot (in my experience). The 1911 Girsan C 45ACP that I am somewhat familiar with has an under-barrel rail for lasers/lights and combos of both, and the weight of a heavier laser/light can offset a bit of recoil if desired. A "bridge-mount" from the rail wrapping around and over the barrel will allow you to mount a cheaper red-dot with few recoil issue if the bridge mount is of decent quality...I did this for a while with my Springfield. It was ugly but it worked well. If you do find a good way to mount a red dot to the barrel, make sure it is a good one as the recoil will be considerable and mess up a cheap dot. Vortex, Trijicon, Holosun, Leupold level quality at the very least.

Why not install a Dlask adjustable rear sight? What I did for my Springfield MC operator.

I did use the below mount on my GP K100, sat awful high. You try Zahals?

I wouldn't use dovetail rear sight mount. Too many have came off or shifted in matches.

This.

The simplest solution, in my opinion, would be to replace the front sight. With some test firing and a little math, you should be able to buy a shorter front sight of the appropriate height which would put you back on target. You might (???) be able to file the existing front sight down, but I'm not super familiar with Girsan's.

I make the suggestion above assuming that you aren't the problem, lol. e.g. Flinching.

OkayShooter made a great recommendation there. I replaced the front sight on a FN9L with a lower sight when nothing I did could get the shots anywhere higher than 3" below the bullseye. It worked for the gunsmith, and it worked for a few weeks for me, then went right back to shooting low. Turns out there is a reason they call the FN9L the Belgian palm-skinner...the ones they sell to the USA and Canada all...shoot...low. Some kind of design flaw was the opinion of everyone who tried it (all better shooters than me). But that's a 9mm...I'd expect better results with almost any 1911 not made in China. Dumb question...have you tried different ammo or reloads? Past 10 yards my Springfield would not group well with any factory ammo I tried.

My 45 shot very low. Personally id go adjustable rear. Then you can adjust for reloads.

Problem is the dovetails on a girsan aren’t a standard Novak cut from what I can tell, I have one and it shoots 6” low at 10-15m. Have never been able to figure out what swaps in, I’ve just started filing the front sight down. I’ll be fine without adjustable sights on it if it shoots poa/poi out to 25m, I’ve shot it off sandbags to verify it.

It’s a pistol I don’t want to dump much money into as it’s a Turkish pos as far as I’m concerned, it has a failure to feed problem as well. It was free so I don’t mind tinkering with it, I’ve improved it’s function a fair bit but it’s still not reliable.
