Hey guys, was looking at replace the guts of my Norinco 1911, I been told Brownell's and did look at all the nice gear the got. So my question is do they have a store in Canada? How do I get the parts? Ebay? Take a drive to America?

Let me know, Cause I don't.
Thanks for the input, Jesse

I will always suggest that you try to buy parts from your local gunsmith first. For 1911 parts most gunsmiths have almost everything in their drawers.

If you have to order from Brownells you could order online. But it takes a long time and sometimes the package could be rejected by CBSA if total amount is over $100, I hear.

Gun parts may be exported from the USA only by an exporter who is registered with the United States Dept. of State (DOS).

Barrels, slides, bolts, and receivers require the State-registered exporter to use a DOS DSP-83 to acquire an export permit. This export permit application is signed by the end-user (meaning you), it is submitted by the registered exporter, and it clearly stipulates that the good(s) cannot be transferred to anyone else without the express prior consent of the DOS. (Never ever.) This application must be accompanied by an International Import Certificate (IIC) from Canada's Dept. of Foreign Affairs (DFAIT).

Most other handgun parts may be exported by a State-registered exporter without the special export permit application, provided that the manufacturer is registered with the DOS (and), provided that the exporter reports the export (and), provided that the total (wholesale) value of gun parts in a given order does not exceed US$100.

Brownells is great to deal with. They will explain the process necessary to get the products that you require from them.

You could look at Freedom Ventures for STI parts, Dark International has pistol smithing and probably has, or can get you parts (and is in Ontario) and Armco in BC has parts too. It's sometimes better to talk to gunsmiths about particular brands or individual parts, they generally will share what works out of the box and what requires an hour of hand polishing to work. Which can save sweat and frustration (and money).

Talk to Roger Katanko Dark international get a trigger job done on it.He is in the Port Dover area.Does great work did a great job on mine.
