Hey there,

I'm looking for a series 80 bypass spacer similar to the TJ unit pictured:

I'm hoping to find something in Canada (or who ships to Canada) to avoid dealing with the the Brownells export hassle.

Thanks!

What's this export hassle with Brownells? Been using them for 7yrs, a lot of times they are cheaper to buy from than Canadian sources esp since I can get everything in one spot and pay only $12US shipping. Not much different than ordering from a Canadian retailer. I ordered my TJ shim from Brownells. You need to know what width to get ie measure your current disconnect.

I used a couple of washers in each place. A little more fiddly to reassemble (only if doing a complete stripdown), but it works.
And as posted above, what is the hassle with Brownells shipping? I have just received some items from them a week ago.

Try Joe Dlask.

Thanks, I'll try Dlask.

Why not Brownells? I find the export paperwork annoying and I've had items dropped from my order without explanation. I may have to go through them but I'd rather not. You think Wanstalls or whomever would stock that part - It's a pretty common mod.

I thought about making one - maybe if there was a jig but for ten or 20 bucks I'd buy it if I could. To get exactly 0.060 would take a lot of trial and error.

I just email Sandy to verify all my items can be exported before finalizing my order. I don't hesitate to order under $100 CDN in parts because shipping cost as much or less than buying here, there's no paperwork involved and there's a very high percentage that I wouldn't get dinged in taxes or duty when it arrives but I ain't here to tell anyone where to spend their money and time. lol

What about just removing the slide safety parts and clipping off the top part of the disconnector?

It is easier to detail strip if the plate is in, don't have to fiddle *uck with the lower parts. Keep your Brownells order under 100 bucks US and there isn't any paperwork.

+1! This! I bought that spacer and a few other cool items for gun smithing but kept it under $100. No issues and was very happy with the products including the standard width spacer.

You remove the slide stuff also. You don't touch the disconnector, it has to come through to the slide.
