I was out at the range took my shot..........then something looked different the front sight of my Caspian 1911 was missing .... and I couldn't find the damn thing !!!!
so what should I do .... get a whole set or just replace the front post ,,, can I do this myself, or should a get a gun plumber to look at it ..... where do I get decent sights?
 BTW I;m in Ontario

Did your sight break off or fall off?
If it fell out I'd look a little harder with some friends providing extra eyes.
Maybe drag a magnet around if they are metal.
Man if your gunsmith can't find some sights you are in trouble:D
Check out Brownells they carry lots of 1911 sights and for something in Canada search this forum.

Go to a gunsmith. There is a wide variety of front and rear sight types available for 1911's, and they need to be matched correctly. Front sights come in different heights and different attachment methods/points. You need to replace what was there before.

where do i get sights though?

You just need to replace the front; but it can either be a staked in one (requiring a special too) or a dovetailed one, which requires fitting.

Like the guys say, see a gunsmith. He'll be able to source the right sights for you from a Canadian or international supplier.

Rodger Kotanko (Dark International) is a pistolsmith in Ontario known for good work - he's also very familiar with Caspian.

shortandlong, you must be new to 1911s or just lucky; I have sent plenty of front sights downrange or over my shoulder. If you like the rear sight, have a good gunsmith dove tail a front sight in. Regards, Richard:D

yes I am a newbee thanks for not berating me too bad.
the front sight was Staked, is that better than a dovetail. though on thought it probably less likley to fly out. anybody deal in caspian in ontario? or Canada
once again thanks for the help everybody
