I'm in the process of getting my Norinco M1911A1-C project under way.
I'm thinking of installing a Wilson Combat Nite Eyes Tritium front sight.
My problem is that I'm not sure if the Norinco slide can be milled for it?
It's a .300"x60deg dovetail.
Also, I have a set of LPA adjustable rear sights. It's a 65deg dovetail and the base is .488"x.828". I believe it was off a Para. but again I'm not entirely sure of what kind of cut it needs, Novak maybe?
Hope that someone can help since it's been almost a year since I've got her all dismantled:(
Much thanks,

Chris

Well what I meant was is the front of the slide thick enough for a dovetailed sight since it has a staked on front? Any welding needed to plug the holes?
And as for the rear sight, I was curious to know if it needs a Novak cut or a Bomar?

Shouldn't be a problem at all. The dovetail will be center with the stake hole and the sight will cover everything up. You won't see a thing when all is done.

Neither sight is a problem as long as your gunsmith has the knowledge and decent carbide dovetail cutters. The LPA/Para rear is neither a Novak nor Bomar pattern :)

But other than dimensions of the sight, it is similar to the Novak pattern, right?

Right? Since I'd like to attempt at doing the job myself since funds are very limited.

Easy to do if you have:

A good milling machine
A nice, new 1/4" carbide end mill
Carbide dovetail cutters in the two sizes needed
A book or video on how to do it. Wilson has good ones :)

Note - the LPA sight is not the same pattern (or size) as the Bomar, the Novak is different again, the Heinie another size/pattern....

The slide is fine for thickness, but this is a hell of a chore to start up with :)

Best regards
Gunnar

Great deal of thanks Gunnar,
We have a Bridgeport at home and I've been machinig for over 5 years now, my father has god knows how many years in the aircraft industry and now over 10 in the reaserch field.
I'll post pics when done and I'll leave an interfearance fit of -.001" or -.0005" for the sights. Should not be too much
front cocking serrations are in order as well and a french cut has been done so far. Maybe top serrations as well if time permits.
Should like nice in the end.
A bit too much for a Norinco, but gotta start somewhere on a tight student budget.
Best regards,

Chris
