1911 slide movement

I recently purchased a Commander sized 1911A1. I’ve noticed a small amount of movement front to rear with the hammer cocked I’m concerned about how the barrel lugs are engaging the slide lugs. How much, if any is acceptable, how do I measure and correct it (pref with common tools)?

I have a few 1911's, made by various companies, including a Commander Model (Colt) and none of them have any slide movement (play), front to back. Take it apart (field strip) and re-assemble it - if you still have play, there is something wrong with the gun.
