Was wondering what 1911 slides will fit the NP29? Since the NP29 is supposed to built to original Colt 1911 specs, does this mean that most makes of 1911 slides will fit her?

I am playing "amature home gunsmith" these days with her and was curious to my options of slides.

Thanks

If the NORINCO NP-29 is built to COLT specs, they would be COLT COMMANDER specs , so any COMMANDER PARTS 9mm ,.38 super or .45 should fit. And most full size GOVERNMENT parts should fit ,accept for the slide which will fit but there is a gap between the frame and the full size slide because the COMMANDER FRAME is 1/2 in. to 3/4 in. shorter. This gap can be filled with a custom made reverse recoil spring plug. I have put together a full size 1911 NORINCO FRAME with a mixture of Colt and after market parts and most were drop in but some needed a little fitting , but that would happen with any mixture of parts.

In theory, slides will fit on the frame rails if both [slide & frame] are made to the same specs. But slide may not clear the ejector which sits on top of the frame and is held in with a crosspin in the frame. If you are installing a .45 top end on a NP-29 [9mm] frame you may have to replace the 9mm ejector with a .45 ejector. They are both slightly different in profile as to be able to kick out the extracted brass when the slide comes back under the recoil of firing... Hope that explains it.;)
