Conclusions: 1) TDC is indeed knowledgeable, if EXTREMELY

2) BELTFED presents facts.
3) WESTICLE is somewhat protective of IDPA.
4) YYYYY must be TDC's BFF, as my kids say

But, the most important thing I can take from this thread, is that the meat and potatoes of this discussion is OPINION.

Other then BELTFED providing FACTS, the rest of this thread is conjecture, at best.

My advice, (That and $1:75 will get you a cup of coffee at Timmie's) Fire as many handguns as you can, until you find one that is comfortable for WHATEVER your intended purpose is, and buy it, and shoot it a lot.

And PLEASE, take all this "defensive S**T with a HUGE grain of sand.

And that folks, is my 2 cents worth

HURRAY HURRAY !
your telling me its all Opinion!?!?! this surely cant be.. ;)

Yep, mind you that new 500 S&W with the 8" barrel will give you some good grip and a nice wind up for that strike.

No way,man ,You could wack somebody 2x as many times with a 1911 as you could with that big Smith, thats ,like's doubale the capcity, why would you use a weapon ,in a round designed to stop rogue dumptrucks, when the good old 1911 will do the job?:dancingbanana:

gold finish, though I read on the Errorweb, that they mar easy.where as parkerize ones just wipe clean, another point for the 1911.

Yeah but with the smith you need just 1 wack, or I could go to my service truck and get my 6' pipe wrench, that would beat the crap out of anything.

Jesus Christ...I'm sick for 24 hours and look what happens....

To sum up:

Wes owns a lot of nice handuns - love the Smiths.

TDC is a tactical god.

YYYY is TDC's BFF.

I've learned more about pistol shooting praying to the porcelain god of food poisoning in the last 24 hours that I did from the 100 posts in two days from this thread....

I have enjoyed reading it though...hahahahahaha:D:D

Pretty much and 1911's are the way to go, Glock have their uses as well.

You know if I was Bono, of the famous rock band "U2" and god granted me one wish... I would wish to travel back in time to when TDC was conceived and kick his dad so hard in the nuts that the little guy gets squished before he gets squirted out.....

either that or go back and punch his mom in the stomach....

hypothetical though eh... none of the above could ever happen because it is a pipe dream, sort of like TDC's grasp of weapons and tactics.

edited to add..... is #### punch a banned word ???

Coming from a poster with the avatar that says Alberta Tactical Handgun League, I find this comment interesting.

Really? Why so? Steve David's approval of Jim S' plea to " take all this defensive S**T with a HUGE grain of sand" makes perfect sense to me.

It neatly sums up a volume of underwhelming speculation regarding the 1911's reliability by a select few tactical tourists who's own practical credentials to back their statements are grossly wanting. Full stop.

Run your mouth long enough, and you're bound to get labeled as a jerk-off.

Just saying...

In my lifetime I have shot at many many B27 targets. None have ever gotten away. I knew I was proficient at shooting. One day I was at the range confident and accurate as usual, then the winds picked up and blew the B27 target towards me...... I panicked. :runaway:
