Hi, I'm looking for a Canadian Dealer who sells replacement fiber optic sights for a Norinco 1911. Does anyone know ? I can find lots in the States but they don't export....without a permit. Thanks for the time.

I contacted Fusion for a replacement fibre optic front sight for my RIA. It too has a proprietary dovetail cut into it. Turns out Fusion was making a batch and I had it in my hands in no time. Now I need to find time to put it in.

Geez guys, thanks for all the good and quick advice. I'll start immediately. Isn't the Norc a direct copy of the original M1911 A1 ? Sooooo, shouldn't any original-type 1911 dovetail fit ?

Short answer: no

Long answer: noooooooooooooooooo

They are great, but definitely not 100% spec. Check the trigger guard :)

OK, I'll answer these in the order posted....Murray has my specs on the dovetails ( 0.285" ) for the rear and ( 0.250" ) for the front. He is checking as we speak. Standby "newshot". Tac Ord does not carry them. Fusion Firearms does sell to Canadian customers and they carry both the 70 and 80 series sights. The difference is in the front sight width, the rears are the same. He also has my specs and I'm waiting to hear. ( Good service from both these places, btw ) From what I've seen on YouTube and read about, the Norcs are a direct copy of the 1911, which is why Norinco copied it...interchangeability. ( that's why thy copied everything from SKS's to AK's to well, everything they make, almost. The sights sometimes need to be " filed-to-fit " but it isn't rocket science by any means. The main reason I bought the Norc ( for the princely sum of $339.00 ) was that they have had good reviews done on them and they are a cheap way to get into a pistol. Hell, most .22's are costlier. Canada Ammo has a sale right now....for $599.00 you get the 1911 and a 1000 rounds of ammo and they ship free all over Canada on orders over $100. I'll let you guys know the outcome.

To be clear, I have a beauty of a norc and I love it. I am not downplaying the quality of the gun. The internals are interchangeable. Some external parts are most definately different than the Colt 1911A1; hammer, trigger, slide serations, mag release, grip bushings, slide lock, beaver tail, grip safety...sadly, the sites cannot be swapped without cutting the slide but, hey, what do I know. Be the first to be able to change your sites without smithing and have at 'er!

I should add that the deal with the ammo is ridiculously good!

You guyz know that the TRO stand for Tritium Fiber Optic right???
This is the cats meow for iron sight shooting. Not only for day light (fiber optics rock) but also at night time (tritium fiber optic's glow crazy bright). IF some one knows were to get these in Canada I would be all over it like a fat kid to cake!

Originally I WAS looking for the TFO's but as I don't anticipate doing any night shooting, I am getting the FO / 70 series from Fusion Firearms in NY State. They are a great deal for $80 and will fit the Norc's. ( tapered dovetail ) They are also cheaper than the TFO's but aren't great for night shooting but the FO's will amplify any light available. I should also say that I haven't heard about availability from either MCE or Gunnar @ Armco but would bet that their prices would probably be higher. I'll let you know how they work out.
