I have acquired a nice Custom STI Eagle 5.5, but I find the trigger pull just a little too light for my rookie involvement in the firing line excitement of IPSC shooting. I would like to increase the pull from the current 2 lb to 3 - 3.5 lb.

My reading suggests that trigger pull in the 1911 is a multi-factor issue, involving the inter-play of a number of springs. Is there a simple way to add just to the trigger pull without compromising the currently flawless reliability of the pistol?

if your not experience with doing 1911 trigger job, then do not even think about it, your right it is a complicated thing. look for a good and reliable gunsmith who does this particular job. ask some of your friends where they have their 1911 tune, if your in Ontario, I would highly recommend ROGER KOTANKO OF DARK INTERNATIONAL TRADING, check his web site, call him on the evening hrs.if its urgent its better to talk to him on the phone than email, roger is not so good wd answering emails, he is very busy.

My first reaction was to advise you to make sure that the gun is safe; so many used guns have been "home-gunsmithed" to lighten the trigger pull and end up creating a gun that is not safe. It ends up with the hammer eventually following the slide and creating a full-auto slam-fire situation. However, in reading a review of the STI Eagle it is described as coming with a pull under three pounds, so your trigger may indeed be as intended from the factory. If so, mastering it will be worth the effort. Your finger shouldn't be on the trigger until you're on the target anyway, so the light pull should be safe.

YEP!!!!!!!
Simplest quick fix to INCREASE Colt Govt trigger pull without swapping parts and possibly compromising integrity ... bend the leaf spring IN a bit.

2 lbs is way too light for safe pistol handling ....
even for seriously experienced Irritating People Squabbling Constantly.
