1911 upgrading help

i have my sig 1911 nightmare fullsize currently and really like it but also have it currently up for sale.

every time i shoot it i like it more and more but i am still having a hard time getting into a 1911 platform.

if it doesnt sell i am going to keep it and make it my newest hobby project
(also just picked up a progressive press so ammo cost is great for me now!!!)

think my issue is in the grips for comfort wise there

my questions are where do i go about finding a new recoil spring since the factory one is currently under spec

supposed to be 16oz but is 15 on my gauge and everywhere i read says to go with 18.5oz

where do i find one?

also would like to get a threaded barrel for it. any brands stand out? where to buy etc?

i understand that with the 1911 most parts will need to be fitted so i dont mind spending the money to get gunsmith work

any other upgrades you gurus think should be in order?

Brownells sells the recoil spring and most other parts for relatively cheap. They did have a threaded barrel last I looked but you would need to contact them about export regs on that, not aware of any vendors that import them as they would be considered a rather expensive cosmetic upgrade since suppressors are considered more lethal than the round. Dlask may offer threading service on one of their home grown barrels but you would have to call Joe

I don't agree on this, the only part on my Remington R1e to be ''upgraded'' is the trigger, but it is a personnal choice, I am awaiting the 1000-1200 shots and than I will do a trigger job ....that's it, and will do it myself....

Seems very slim to hold compared to the beretta I learned how to shoot on. Also mag release is har for me to manipulate efficiently.
Thinking a set of vz grips that are thicker with the mag release cut out will do the trick and of course more trigger time

I might attempt a trigger job myself. Did one on my betetta when I sent it for cerekote an if I just take my time and pay attention to disassembly it will be all good in the end

upgrading is not replacing.... if he wants to put a new barrel in he is going to need a gunsmith
 
"...to be ''upgraded''..." That's not the same thing as fitting. Most handgun parts require fitting. Especially barrels.
All firearms require a trigger job out of the box. Doing one on a 1911 is easy. Sometimes just changing the springs is enough, but for a really nice crisp trigger polish all the internal parts and change the springs.
"...recoil spring..." Try Wolf Springs. Just remember that the weight you use is dependent on the ammo you use. They don't list a Sig-Sauer 1911, but it's a clone so any 1911 recoil spring will do. The Colt standard is 16 lbs.
