Howdy all,

I'm wondering what sort of dollars I would expect to pay for original WW2 issue 1911A1 mags?? Not the 2-tone or w/lanyard loop, just ordinary GI issue mags...I think most of them had letter codes stamped on the toe of the floor plate and nothing on the underside.

Thanks,

Trying to find the older collectable magazines can be a chore and expensive also. About a month ago I managed to find a pre 1916 2 tone magazine w/ lanyard loop in the US for one of my 1914's and it was $129.00 before shipping and I have 2 pre World War II, 2 tone mags w/o the lanyard loop currently being shipped up from the US for $69.00 a piece. Gun Parts Corp in the US is a good source of GI mags though.

I did find a couple of the two tone early WWI style, with lanyard loop. Unfortunately, one is missing the loop. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make and install a loop, one that looks factory and not done by Bubba?

Good luck, you can find repros at http://w ww.ima-usa.com/militaria/gun-parts/magazines.html but unfortunately they don't export mags to Canada. Originals are a tad more expensive and found at specialty militaria sites. Keep in mind that lanyard loops were only installed on Colt magazines until 1916.

I noticed a lot of "sellers" at gunshows know that the original WWI era lanyard loop 1911 magazines are worth something.

But not so much with the WWII contract maker mags with the single initial on the top of the magazine floorplate toe. I've managed to score quite a few of them in nice shape for $15-$20 each at gunshows.

The markings look like this:

New WW2 mags $20.00. I bought from Hayes last month, a very easy gentleman to deal with.
