Pull the release entirely and see if you still have the issue. In some cases the trigger bow is tight on one side and partially depressing the mag release can push the mag body slightly away from the bend, or into the bend enough to slide it by. If that's the case, no amount of screwing with the mag release will help.
If the problem goes away when the mag release is out, and you've already tried a new mag release and spring, my guess is that the cut for the mag release locator/retention tab was cut too deep in the frame.
Does the right hand side of the mag release sit perfectly flush with the frame?
Conversely you're not just using finger pressure to insert the mags or anything, right? They will always snug down at the mag releas for a second on the way in if you go slowly and gently enough.
