I spend a bit of time on the EE. It seems if priced ok, Norc 1911A1 variants don't stick around too long. Now on the other hand it seems Commander models hang out for awhile. For revolvers most people seem to want a 4.2 inch barrel but it doesn't seem like people want short 1911s. Are they less accurate?? Or is it the looks? or something else??

thoughts?

IMO, the Commander has better proportions than the Government, so better aesthetics...but what do I know?

The shorter sight radius makes it harder for me to shoot tight groups.

The shorter barrel delivers lower muzzle velocity, but 230 grains traveling 50 fps slower is no laughing matter.

I have noticed that some sellers ask slightly more for their Commanders because of some mods (DIY) or better mags. I wouldn't buy a DIYed 1911 unless I was sure the seller knew what he is doing as far as 1911 mods.

I also see the newer model Commanders with the squared trigger guard come up for sale quite often and unless priced really sharp, they stay unsold longer. Not surprised as that square trigger guard is the epitome of ugly.

I agree with this. You don't see very many of the old Nork commander models with the classic lines for sale, which is why I bought a SAM from Wolverine.

+1 to both, I find the proportions of the Commander length much more balanced to my eye and I also found the shorter sight radius did nothing to help my groups out.

I wanted a Commander for quite a while and finally bought one of the newer ones with the squared trigger guard, only to find that I prefer shooting the full 5" 1911. Who knew? So I sold the Commander and bought an Armco tuned 5" and the world is right again.

Just wait till they come in at te dealers and pick them up. I can't remember the last time I saw a gun on the EE that wasn't the same price or more than a dealer.

People have been saying the newer guns are coming out as better quality, so with the Norincos who knows what you're getting if it's not new to the dealer to your doorstep.

You have to be patient and lucky when buying on the EE. When a good deal appears, you have to pounce on it asap. That's what I do and have been rewarded with some fantastic deals.

As far as new Norincos being better than old models, all I can say is my brand new 1911 9mm is not as well finished and fitted as my older 1911 45s.
I believe Norinco makes mostly good 1911s, but there are the occasional monday guns.
