I started shooting IPSC with 9mm and then moved to .40.

Picked up a 1911 just because everyone should have one... and shot it at a match for giggles. The thing was wicked.... reloads suffered (singe stack, no magwell), but I shot it well and fast.

I've read the recent thread on single stack reload issues, and mag capacity for international IPSC, but locally we shoot more for fun than score.

Just when ammo in general and .45 in particlar is so pricey.

May be the excuse I need to reload.

I can't see it becoming my main IPSC shooter for practical/competitive reasons, but I'm beginning to develop a taste for that '1911 kool-aid'.

Yeah 1911's are fun! I just got my first one over a months ago, should've done it long time ago...Hoping to get one in 10mm at some point too :)

Modern or classic, there definitely is something very alluring about the 1911...I've got another on the way (in .45 ACP, of course). :)

Yea it's gotta be in .45. People who know nothing about guns dont know them as "1911s" they know them as ".45s" lol. I guess one in 9 or .40 would be cheaper and have less recoil..but it just wouldnt feel right.

Yeah, the ole .45ACP is the cgt that defines the 1911.... that said I also am set up to shoot mine in .22 lr [conversion unit], 9mm, .38 ACP/Super, .40 S&W and 10mm.

No matter what the ctg the 1911 just feels right in my hand. :yingyang:
