Way back on post #2522, just over a year ago, I put up a picture of my stock Ruger SR1911 and said "Looks and works great, no need to change it"
That was then...
...but this is now! I'm going to shoot some IPSC Classic Division with it so:
I fitted a bunch of Ed Brown guts -
-slide stop
-extractor
-mag well
-19lb mainspring
-extended oversize mag release
-ambi safety
Also added-
-STI titanium mainspring cap and hammer strut
-2.75lb trigger job (stock trigger group)
-EGW fiber optic front sight (green)
-14lb Wolff recoil spring
-VZ Operator II G10 grips with Super Scoop in Cherry colour
-deactivated grip safety
-a bit of skate tape to the front strap
-a stack of 15 Wilson Combat magazines
I tried to keep it looking as stock as possible because I think it's a handsome 1911 but I also wanted it to be ergonomic for IPSC and less likely to break than it would be with the stock MIM parts.
If I hadn't already had a stainless Ed Brown slide stop lying around I would have gotten the blued version to match the stock one.
Now I have a gun that is IPSC ready, looks sorta like the stock version, and has it's own Ziploc bag full of MIM spare parts!
How'd I do?
