1911's Pics Thread

I like the Novak sites better than the other ones he has, how much did it run you for sights and work?

I am enjoying my Armco commander, shoots quite nicely.

That's a good question. In total, it cost me about 600 bucks. Thats work and parts. So how much the work cost by itself, I'm not sure. Anyway, I'm happy with it. Rugged little gun.

No one mentioned the Norinco grips that I had to cut up in order for it to look somewhat decent. hehehe, anyway I'm on the hunt for some nice ones this weekend.

I had some of those pachmayers....medallion fell off one side so I tried glueing back on...then purchased some other ones on ebay.

Here is my Norc 1911 with some added parts...

Are those parts drop in, or beavertail needed fitting?

Here is my Para Ordnance P-12. It was completely reworked by a fellow CGN'er who is very good at making 1911's and Hi-Powers work better, he did my Hi-Power aswell. This P-12 was very well used when I got it, but said member fixed and tuned all that needed to be, and now it is just pleasure to shoot.

Wow, Para P-12, that is a nice little gun, we don't see very many of those around, was it in rough shape when you got it? I have only ever seen one other in the 16 years that I have been shooting and it was at a gun show in Pickering last year, Al Hobbs had it for sale, it was stock but like new, I still kick myself for not buying it!

Thank you for the kinds words Steve. It is a fabulous little gun, one of my favorites. As far as it being in rough shape, it was well shot when I got it. It was built in the early 90's by a local pistosmith who was very well regarded in the GTA, Don Irvine. I did not buy it new nor did I have it built by Don Irvine, but who ever did buy it from him did shoot it quite a bit. I met a gentleman in my area through a mutual friend who rebuilt it for me. He did a complete trigger job and new parts, fitted a new beavertail, tightened the slide to frame fit, and installed the Novak sights and this is the end result. He did want to refinish it for me with OD green on the frame and flat black on the slide, but I prefer the worn look with the like new function. He relly did a great job. By the way, I too saw that P-12 Al Hobbs had for sale at the same gun show, as a matter of fact, I called him later that day after I returned home to buy it, but he had already sold it.
