1911's Pics Thread

Nice pics Steve, and nice pistols too.

Just received this the other day, courtesy of a fellow gun nut. Need to do a bit of detailing and better pics. British contract .455 Gov't Model.

I've got to figure out a fer sale price. Last time I tried, I guess I wasn't asking the right amount. So I'll ask around here.
290000 serial number, puts it at 1917 dated.
Original "Brushed" black finish. I've seen this year, serial number range and finish described as a "Black Army" at various auction houses in the US.
"Dipped" blue, loop mag.
Lighting in these pics show every little scratch and dust marks.

Any ideas?

That looks like a beauty koldt. Judging by the rollmark and serial number, it looks like a 1918. If the finish is correct/original, it also fits with other mid '18 production. Always seems tough to judge finish by pictures. If a more knowledgeable gun nut sees fault, please feel free to correct me.

I think you're right on the production date:redface: Got too many toys to keep track.

The finish is original.

Still trying to figure out a price, and needing suggestions/going rate as I became the custodian back in the 1980's.

OMG......that is nice. Got to love Stag grips. I am on the hunt for some aged stag grips for my Colt Commander

.45 Springer?

Lucked into them when looking for ivory and pearl grips last year. Been looking for the right pistol since. Yes its a .45, had a 9mm commander earlier this year, couldn't get excited about the caliber.

Thats a nice well worn Springfield Deadman, nice character. The stag gives it a good accent.

Yup, traded a fellow gunnut for it. The pics don't do it justice, it's actually in very nice shape and has a nice clean trigger (about 2.5 lbs). Should be a good shooter. Hopefully find out tomorrow.
