1911's to be found anywhere?

I was thinking of selling mine, a nice stainless Springfield, 45 acp, with target sights, since I seldom take it to the range. But Justin persuaded me to hang onto it.

Thoughts on the Ed Brown on EE? It's nice

Which one? The SF or the DVC?

I previously owned a stainless Ed Brown Executive Target. My experiences below.

Pro’s:

- Reliable. 100%.
- It was exceptionally well finished. Ed Brown, in my experience, finishes stainless better than anyone. No tool marks to be found anywhere, all edges slightly dehorned, consistent satin finish everywhere.
- Style. Clean and classic.
- Trigger. Excellent trigger. Minimal take-up, clean consistent 4lb break, no perceptible over-travel,
- Checkering. Really liked the 25LPI of the Executive. The one in the EE is obviously different.

Cons’s (relatively speaking):

Fit: Slide-frame was good, but not as tight as my Guncrafter or briefly owned Les Baer. Small parts had larger tolerances than the Guncrafter, though smaller than the Baer and several “lower” 1911’s. Barrel seemed to lock-up well, if comparatively loose compared to the Guncrafter and certainly the Baer (to be expected).

Accuracy: Maybe it was the gun, maybe it was me, but I never shot the EB well. The LB (when it wasn’t choking), Dan Wesson, and a lightly modded Springfield were all better shooters for me. The Guncrafter is as well. That said, I’m not good enough to definitively say it was the gun.

Would I buy another EB? Absolutely. It was an absolute stunner and the only 1911 I’ve owned that was 100% reliable out of the box, and I truly mean 100%. Never had a single failure to feed, fire, or extract.

Would I pay $5k for a used one? No way. $3k? I could be convinced. I’d happily pay $3k to get my old Executive Target back.
