1911's to many to choose

To be fair to Riot, he seems to have one of the transitional 1911s when Sig was transitioning its manufacturing from Germany to outsourced parts from Caspian, then to in-house at Exeter. If you lucked out, you have a gem with few or no MIM at all, but if you didn't, most of your 1911 is MIM, including the cast Caspian frame (which is a highly regarded piece and probably better than mediocre forging).

These days, according to some knowledgeable reviewers and SIG's advertising (take with a grain of salt), all SIG 1911s use match grade internals. Personally, I don't have any issues with MIM, but if a company is going to use it so extensively, then retail pricing should reflect this. Charging premium prices for something that is outsourced cheaply doesn't sit well with me.

take your time and find a used colt .45 combat commander or a colt series 70 combat .45. it will be worth the wait. I remember when everyone was "dumping" colts to buy their new replacements. now you don't even see used colts much anymore. Older colts still have the quality built in.
