1911's... Which one?

Go to a range when a pistol event is happening, look and ask questions. At some events when they are over some guys will let you pick it up and or shoot a few rounds.
You'll have a clearer mind as to what you may or may not want.
Myself, I haven't handled some named here but I have handled more than a few, I like STI, Colt are very nice too. The Norcs and Para's are to expensive IMO.

Why not buy a real COLT .45 Automatic, instead of a copy. Arms East has two COLT GOLD CUP Trophy pistols for sale.

omg i was searching this thread to see if ANYONE would say COLT!!! lol
good on you, i JUST got my Colt Gold Cup Trophy in the mail today :D so so so happy, slide is tight like a virgin, trigger as hard as a wet nipple.

and it doesn't matter if it's a gold cup or even a 1991A1, colt is it baby :D

This is just like the question of "which Hollywood star should I sleep with, if I could?"

The original motorcar was a Ford but that's not going to stop me from buying from another manufacturer.

There are lots of nice 1911's out there. Yes the CGCT is nice, but there are other brands just as good; some better.

Production: Colt, Wilson Combat, Springfield Armory
Semi-custom: Les Baer, Ed Brown
Custom: Volkman and others.

Kimber and Para seem to have had a lot of issues lately, both with Quality Control and Customer Service.

If you want a Dan Wesson you might want to get it now becasue the prices are going up the first of the year as much as $100-300 US according to Wesson distribution.

you cannot put Kimber and Para in the same sentence regarding QUALITY !
I had so many 1911 pistols and nothing beat the Kimber out of the box quality and accuracy ....

.........nothing beat the Kimber out of the box quality and accuracy ....

Have also owned my share of 1911's. +1 on Wlfstck's sentiments as the Kimber is the only one that shot perfect the first time around straight out of the box. Have Para's which now shoot just as well, but they both needed work to get them to that level. Best is to try and shoot what you are centering on. Whatever 1911 you end up with, one thing that's guaranteed, its going to be a blast to shoot and master.

I'm down to two 1911's for 'modern production' 1911's. A Dan Wesson PM7 and a Wilson Combat CQB. I can recommend these without hesitation. Be careful with Para products as their customer service isn't what they purport it to be. FWIW, check out the Dlask 1911's, a Canadian made, hand fitted and assembled 1911 starting at $1250.....
