Hey guys, I picked up a nice restorable pre-WWI LSA No1 MkIII a few days ago. Its matching minus the bolt, but as it is to be restored it won't ever be truly matching anyway. Both lugs lock up well and I will check headpace before completion.

It was mentioned to me that I need the proper pot belly forestock. I can't afford the price of a nice repro from EFD, I'm on an apprentice's budget now! Good news is that I have a duplicator here...

I'm wondering if someone could help me out with finding a stock to master. I need all of the proper wood to copy, butt with inlet for disk, front and rear handguards and the volley inletted fore end. If someone has this stuff and wouldn't mind letting me master it I can make a deal with them to build them a stock or something?

Thanks guys!!

What is a pot belly fore stock?

The profile of a forstock with volley sight recess is different to one without around the area of the volley sight. There were however, rifles assembled for a short time after the volley sights were removed from production that had the correct profile as a provision for the volley sight but never had the recess machined. These have come to be known in my parts as the transitional type forend, but don't take that as an official name. It's this type of forend that is most suitable for a volley sight reproduction.
That's about as best I can explain it.

this one does not have it:

The repro ones numrich has been selling do not have them. The ones EFD sells do, but my pockets are not that deep and besides that I have a perfectly good duplicator here and some very nice walnut at my disposal.

the11, yes I'm in need of the windage rear sight as well a mag cut off etc.

Ok so are talking about the scallop were the pointer goes down sorry i cant see the diff in the pic ?ok i think the whole area around the sight is dished in ? Correct?

The area directly below the forward volley sight is bellied out. Notice how the line of the first stock is more or less straight from the mag well to the nose cap but the other examples are straight to the volley sight then quickly taper down to the band and then taper in uniform from the band ahead to to nose cap? The ones available from the US are the single taper version and not the Traditional style as Harry suggests. I'd like to make a copy of the bellied one.

Ok i understand now thanks, so much to learn i have an early one as well but with the numrich stock so i cant help, but i would be first in line to get one of yours if you make them cheers.
