Hi

I have recently become very interested in Milsurps. My grandfather had a Lee Enfield sporter that he bought back in the 50's. I now have this rifle and I would love to put it back to original. Because i'm new to Milsurps im not sure whats missing..other than all of the wood. Also if there is anything you can tell me about it, or if I need better pics let me know

Your sporter is really nice. I suspect it may even be a commercial sporter.

Your barrel was changed, shortened, there's no real point trying to swap it and turn it into a military configuration. That rifle has a really nice rear sight, keep it that way and enjoy it!

Enjoy the gun as is. It has been altered so much that other than a rebarrel, it is not restoreable to any degree. All woods need replacing and most metal work.

Thanks Guys... That's kind of what i thought...but i guess that means I'll have to buy one that is original. I do plan on taking this one into the woods this year though.

Take it into the woods, enjoy the heck out of it. Just don't bang it around; that's a very nice rifle just as it is.

One thing you will find is that that old Lyman aperture sight, once you learn how to use it, can be every bit as fast to use as a low-power scope, every bit as accurate...... and it doesn't get out of whack if the rifle falls over, it doesn't change its POA without prior notice AND it doesn't fog up!

Some of those old guys DID have an idea what they were doing!
