My buddy just got a p14 303 brittish from his grandpas inheritence. He was asking me about a scope mount since its not drilled and tapped how should we go about mounting some optics for him. Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

If it's not been "sporterized" by bubba DON'T TOUCH IT!!!! If it's still in it's military dress, it would be worth 4 or 5 sporterized models. If it's already been mucked with and altered beyond redemption, then you can get a good gunsmith or some solid advice from some of the other members on this site.

You can buy a no gunsmithing required scope mount. It attaches to the rear site block. Check the Brownell's site. You might have to buy it in Canada though.

Searching the Brownell's site for a scope mount for Enfield brings up conflicting information. They list a no-drill, no-tap mount by S&K that comes up for Enfield, 1917, which sounds like they mean the U.S. M1917 derived from the P-14. The changes to the p-14 design in .303British to make it the U.S. M1917 in .30-06 shouldn't affect how this scope mount fits if it really is for the M1917, but in the detail of the listing it says it fits the SMLE No1.MkIII (and Ishapore variant in .308) and that is an entirely different rifle from the Enfield P-14/ U.S. M1917. You should research with S&K about this before ordering one.
