You did well. Sporters that can just be dropped in a stock to get back to military configuration are usually quite a bit more.
Another option is for the OP to find one of the sled patrol rifles that Tradeex brought in years ago. Nice new VAR barrel and a full stock set to throw up on the EE to cover the gun smith costs.
