1917 sporter round not feeding into extractor issue

The extractor is parallel to the bolt face. Also the bolt is clean, and the case does seat against the bolt face and not the lip. Also the lips look unmodified as far as i can tell inside the receiver. One thing i did notice tho was when a round is loaded from the same side as the extractor the round pops out of the rail (lip) after being pushed forward about 3/4". When the round on the opposite side of the extractor is being pushed it doesn't jump out of the rail, you have to push it all the way forward till the rail ends and it seems that the round is at more of an angle so it harder to catch into the extractor. Its like the round on the left is not being wedged out like the one on the right, yet when i look at the rails in the receiver both side look identical. Any more ideas anyone?

Thanks for all the help so far

Check to see if all parts are marked the same maker. IE:R-Remington E-Eddystone W-Winchester. P14 and M1917's are notorious for not having compatable parts if from other maker. I had an Eddystone with an R marked magazine,trigger-guard etc which didnt feed well. Once I swapped in all E parts the damn thing worked flawlessly.

Not so surprising. I remember reading that the American army in France in WWI told Winchester not to bother sending any more rifles over. Too many non-interchangeable parts!

As for the OP's rifle, if you're certain it's an M17 ramp and from the same maker as the rifle, your next step will be to swap in another ramp and try that. Post a few photos please.

Well i think i finally got it. Took a real close look at what was happening and i filed a little bevel on the lip of the catch on the bolt opposite of the extractor. Then i filed the same thing on the bottom of the extractor to help it catch the round as its coming up. Tried it several time and it seems to work great now. the only time it didn't feed into the extractor is on the second las round when the gun is pointed down and the bolt is closed slowly, i may get a new magazine spring in the future as it may be a little weak. But i think im good to go.

Thats for all the help guys!
