Appears all original except for the wood...comes with 13 150gr Sabertips
Is this old gal worth $150?

How much work would it be to restore it to it's former glory?
How hard is proper wood etc to find?

Yes $150 is the price for a sporterized Lee Enfield. Parts can be found quite easily and The Lee Enfield you talk about is perfectly restorable since the barrel and the sight are intact. Marstar should have the forehand and the handguards and maybe the others fews parts needed(nose cap and screw,rear sight protector+screw,barrel band,forend stud+spring)

Have dealt with Numerich plenty...would rather stay in Canada for parts if possible.

on a related but slightly off topic note...

Like many,I took my first deer with a LE.
It was original full wood.The rear sight flipped up and it had a little lever on the side for moving the aperture up and down. IIRC it was at the rear of the receiver...not much of a clue,but any idea what model it was?
It went missing years ago when the house in the city got cleaned out one day.
 
Brer Rockeye, the rear sight you describe was found on a #4 rifle that came out for WW2. There were a FEW earlier models with rear sights, but that is the overwhelming liklihood.
 
Only sources for wood right now are liberty tree collectors in the US (Indian wood) and EFD in UK (pricey reproduction) or if you get lucky the EE or Epay. I bought my most recent unissued matching set there, price will make you sick.

I'll keep looking and see what I can come up with.
bushwhacker,that could be right (WWII) as I was told that my Uncle Jack carried that rifle through France.
Not sure if that part is true as I was just a kid when he died and my Dad ended up with it.
Also an old timer back then told me that nobody got to keep their issue rifle...course he was trying to buy it...
Either way it's just a memory, but I loved the sights.

found front($33 and climbing) and rear (unissued,under$20) handguards for the mkIII*
What are usual prices?

as a bonus, there was a pull through in the but of the old gal :)
