Is the auction price the going price on these guns. I am also interested. Any idea of other costs? Belts, barrels, etc.

Steve.

Actually, when you factor in the taxes and shipping, the auction price (if purchased in Ont.) would be about $400 less than Marstars. Plus, he's throwing in a linker. I believe that this unit may be slightly used and was more than likely originally bought from Marstar.

100 rd. belts can be bought from IMA in the US at the cheapest price going. Marstar also sells 250 rd belts & metal links.
Barrels can be had for CA$125 + from various sources in Canada

Since when did the 5rnd mag limit apply to links? THEY ARE EXEMPT! The link is not a magazine under defintion. The CFC obviously doesn't read the laws very well or are trying to invent them.
The exemption says:
"(f) is of the "belt" type consisting of a fabric or metal belt, is not a reproduction and was originally designed or manufactured for the purpose of feeding cartridges into a automatic firearm of a type that was in existence before 1945."

The exemption doesn't differentiate between a metal belt and a disentigrating mettalic link belt. If you have any factual information, let us know. The laws concern seems to be to regulate whats going in to the gun, not what condition its in when it leaves.

I was going to upgrade my TNW 1919A4 to C5A1 configuration in order to use the more common links (as well as better reliability), but the lack of an exemption for the modern links has made me rethink this.

well i be with you drinking on friday so you might be able to convince me.......

Well I am sure most of the other people who will be going up to squamish will try to convince you too....;)

Anyhow, is the gun .308 or ???

Let me know and I'll get some ammo.

Cheers,

Alex

it's 308. bring your own ammo (cheap norinco is all i use), and you have to load your own onto the belt. i uasually load 20-40 and night by hand. i aint got one of them there fancy pants loaders. just blistered fingers.

On 1919A4.com there are a couple of threads about building your own belt loader out of toggle clamps. I bought a clamp at Lee Valley in Edmonton for about $20, screwed it onto a 2x4 and can now load a 250 round belt (with 308) in well under an hour without blisters. Save your fingers!

huh? What would it matter if it were a recreation? why?

My guess is that they allow us the use of the origional belts, and in some cases drum magazines like the Luger, Lewis, or the Bren, because of the historical value. If someone started pumping out repro Luger drums by the thousands, it would defeat the 5 round rule. As it stands now, the exempted drum magazines are pretty rare, and although the belts aren't that uncommon, the guns that fire them are pretty much all closet queens now, with the exception of these semi-autos.
