1923 16 Gauge Browning A5

Hi, new to this forum. I am trying to figure out the value of this gun. I would say it is in fair to good shape.

No one can really give any information that is meaningful without photos. And you'll have better luck in the Shotgun section than Hunting and Sporting Arms section.

Almost guaranteed to be a 2 9/16 inch chamber due to the year unless Browning was ahead of the curve.

Pre- WWII Auto-5 16 gauge guns are 2 9/16 chambers. Browning only resumed importing FN produced Auto-5 shotguns in July of 1923.
You can confirm chamber length by the Belgian proof marks on the barrel which will be 16/65 - 65 mm chamber
Some old guns have been altered to 2 3/4 chamber, but this alteration also required opening the ejection port.
Altered guns are usually marked as such.

They are not worth what some people are asking . In my experience Struff is generally spot on honest with his pricing . The market is out of touch with reality now days.

A 16 gauge A-5 that only takes 2 1/2” shells has very little value, unfortunately. Which is sad, because I have one, and it is the most perfect A-5 I’ve ever handled, and is perfect for upland game. It is a delight to shoot, and is beautifully made. If I recall correctly, I paid $250 for it a few years ago.
