This is a long shot. Apparently this model came in snipers, I viewed photographs online and they are mentioned on Wikipedia. How can you identify a sniper versus somebody drilling and tapping one (at a later date)? Thanks !

You need to look further online to see what a military Mauser sniper rifle looks like.
Military sniper rifles didn't use Weaver bases and hack the stock for a bent down bolt handle.

The typical WW2 sniper rifle depended on national military doctrine. From my POV, only a few countries had designated sniper programs. The smaller countries have not been well documented, so I am leery when someone proposes a sniper version of something. Belgium was occupied from 1940 to most of 1944. Their economy and industry were devastated! Their military depended on foreign aid for a long time. The SAFN emerged in 1949 and there was a scope version.

I have a wiki account and get corrected all the time. Don't depend on wiki for an expensive decision.

From the book ‘FN Mauser Rifles’ by Anthony Vanderlinden.

It doesn’t look to me like your holes are correct for a original but I would not be a good judge of that. The crest being scrubbed is a good indication it likely wasn’t a sniper.
