1939 mosin hex reciever

Saw a 1939 mosin today hex receiver all matching # except bayonet mint bore and stock they were asking $257.00 is that over priced or fair?

Interesting! I thought the hex receivers were only made up until the early thirties, perhaps this is a Finnish M39 and worth more.

Some dealers are charging that for the hex guns. As a recycled receiver gun, it's interesting enough to merit a small bump in price (in my view).

Also, the ones left at dealers for $199 are generally with frosted bores. If it's hex, matching and with a perfect bore, I think that price is very fair.

250$ for hex is about the price I see on gun shows but those guns usually sit on the same table for number of months.

Boy,how I wish there was a business offering rebarelling service for MN for reasonable money.I could use nice 309 sized barrel on one of mine MN

My understanding was that the last Hex receiver was made in 1936. But we are talking Russia so who knows.

Russian stopped using hex receiver after 1935.

They may have, but what was in stores was used for quite some time..

My Hex receiver is dated 1936. When I did some research they were supposed to have stopped making them early 1936 but who knows how long they took to use them all up.

The Russian recycled receivers throughout production whenever they could, esp during the ramp up to max production during 1941. I have a 1937 tula 91/30, 1941 izhevsk 91/30, and a 1944 tula m44, all "hex".
